Schalke 04 – RB Leipzig

Schalke 04 are getting closer to another relegation to the 2. Bundesliga. The Royal Blues are at the bottom of the standings with just 9 points after 16 matches played. It makes them sitting on 6 points behind the 16th Stuttgart and the relegation play-off zone and the 15th Augsburg. Schalke are certainly going down if they don’t find a way to improve as quick as possible.

In their last game Schalke 04 suffered their 11th loss for the season. Schalke paid a visit to Eintracht Frankfurt where they suffered a 0-3 defeat. Once again Thomas Reis’ team didn’t show nothing significant on the pitch. The head coach was appointed on the job in October, but it won’t be surprising if he gets sacked as well.

RB Leipzig had the tough task to start their season against the champion Bayern Munich. The Red Bulls didn’t give up, though – they got a point after a 1-1 draw at the Red Bull Arena. The Bavarians opened the score, but Marcel Halstenberg equalised in the beginning of the second half.

Right now RB Leipzig are 5th in the Bundesliga standings with 29 points won. It’s not good enough for them because their ambition is to finish in the Top 4. The good news is they are just one point behind the 4th Freiburg.

Timo Werner could return in the line-up against Schalke. He started from the bench against Bayern, but now he could be among the starters in Gelsenkirchen.
